Nutrition Council Australia (NCA) members who wish to operate as Nationally Recognised Nutritionists (NRN’s) that work directly with clients within the limitations of the NCA endorsed Scope of Practice are required to have appropriate Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.

SureFinity offer a combined Allied Health Professional Indemnity / Public Liability Insurance package for Nationally Recognised Nutritionists and their business. The combined package offers a level of cover for Professional Indemnity Insurance limit of at least $2m and Public Liability Insurance cover of $10 million. This is the minimum level of coverage that NCA will accept for its members to operate as Nationally Recognised Nutritionists.

What is Professional Indemnity?

Professional indemnity policies cover against claims that the advice provided was negligent and has caused an injury or loss to the client. It is essentially designed to cover a breach of the duty that professional advisors owe to their clients.

What is Public Liability?

Public liability policies are designed to cover the cost of compensation arising from claims in respect of death, illness, personal injury and/or property damage that you are deemed to have caused or alleged to have caused.

How do I apply for Insurance?

To be eligible to apply for Allied Health Professional Indemnity Insurance for your Nationally Recognised Nutritionists practice, you will need to have completed the 10763NAT Certificate IV in Nutrition and provide evidence of this to your insurance provider. You should seek advice as to what type of policy and the level of coverage that is suitable for your circumstances.
